Whichaway Camp

Whichaway Camp is the original White Desert experience—a place that reflects the spirit of exploration while redefining what it means to venture to Antarctica in comfort.

Nestled within the Schirmacher Oasis, one of the continent’s exceptionally rare ice-free regions, the camp reveals a landscape unlike the Antarctica most imagine. Here, ancient rock emerges through the ice, surrounded by more than one hundred pristine freshwater lakes and framed by vast glaciers that stretch to the horizon.

Established in 2005 on the site of a former East German research station, Whichaway honours Antarctica’s legacy of scientific discovery while offering a distinctly contemporary retreat. Six thoughtfully designed polar pods provide private en-suite accommodation, while expansive glass conservatories create inviting spaces to gather, dine, and take in uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness.

Every detail has been considered to deliver exceptional comfort in one of the world’s most remote destinations. Warm interiors, refined hospitality, and immersive experiences come together to create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and extraordinary.

At Whichaway, Antarctica is not simply visited—it is experienced with the time, space, and perspective it deserves.
