Expedition Dates

January 19-26, 2027

Guests should plan to arrive in Cape Town at least two days before the scheduled Antarctic departure and remain flexible for at least two days following the anticipated return. All Antarctic flights and activities are weather-dependent, and schedules may change to take advantage of the safest and most favorable operating windows.

Investment

US $115,500 per person

Based on two guests sharing one private sleeping pod.

This private departure is limited to ten guests.

Payment Schedule

A payment of US$57,750 per person, representing 50% of the expedition price, is required to confirm a reservation.

The remaining balance of US$57,750 per person is due no later than September 15, 2026.

Reservations made on or after the final-payment date will require payment in full at the time of confirmation.

Availability is not secured until the required payment, completed booking documentation and signed terms have been received and accepted.

Included

Your expedition investment includes:

Private round-trip Antarctic flights between Cape Town and Antarctica
Transfers between designated locations in Cape Town, Franschhoek or Stellenbosch and the airport for the Antarctic flights
The required pre-departure safety briefing and associated transfers
Up to 30 kilograms of baggage, comprising 23 kilograms of checked luggage and 7 kilograms of hand luggage
Seven nights of accommodation in Antarctica, including shared occupancy of a private, heated sleeping pod
All meals, snacks, standard beverages and alcoholic beverages while in Antarctica
The journey to the Geographic South Pole, including Antarctic aircraft transportation and the planned overnight at Dixie’s Camp on the High Polar Plateau
The guided Blue Rivers experience, subject to weather, ice and operating conditions
Guided activities and excursions included in the final expedition program
Services of White Desert’s expedition leaders, field guides, aviation team, medical support and logistics personnel
The participation of Dr. Cady Coleman and Josh Simpson in the shared expedition experience and scheduled conversations
Use of designated specialist polar equipment identified on the final equipment list
White Desert’s carbon contribution associated with the Antarctic logistics of the program

All itineraries are provisional and subject to change. Weather, safety, aircraft availability, environmental requirements and operating conditions will always determine the final order and availability of activities.

Not Included

The expedition price does not include:

International or domestic airfare to and from Cape Town
Hotels, meals and personal expenses in Cape Town
Additional Cape Town accommodation required because of weather or flight delays
Passport, visa or entry-document costs
Comprehensive travel, cancellation, interruption, medical or evacuation insurance
Most personal polar clothing and footwear
Clothing or equipment purchased because a guest arrives inadequately equipped
Baggage charges exceeding the permitted allowance
Unscheduled aircraft movements or emergency medical evacuation
Medical treatment, hospitalization or repatriation
Satellite telephone use
Boutique purchases and other personal expenses
Discretionary gratuities
Private activities, transfers or arrangements not expressly included in the confirmed program

Travel Insurance

Every guest must obtain comprehensive travel insurance as soon as the reservation is confirmed.

Coverage must include, at minimum:

US$500,000 per person for emergency medical treatment and repatriation
Emergency evacuation from Antarctica, including evacuation by unscheduled aircraft
Coverage extending for at least five days beyond the expected return date
The destinations, elevations and activities included in the expedition
Trip cancellation, interruption and curtailment
Weather-related delays and additional accommodation expenses
Pre-existing medical conditions, where applicable
Protection against circumstances that could prevent or interrupt participation

Guests are responsible for confirming directly with their insurer that Antarctic interior travel, the South Pole, high-altitude exposure and all planned activities are covered without relevant exclusions.

Proof of adequate insurance will be required. A guest who does not maintain acceptable coverage may be refused participation without refund.

Cancellations & Refundability

Antarctic expedition arrangements require substantial, nonrecoverable commitments well in advance. For that reason, payments should be considered nonrefundable once made.

A guest who is unable to travel may request permission to nominate a replacement. Any replacement is subject to availability, medical approval, adequate insurance, execution of all required waivers and written acceptance by DePrez Travel Partners and White Desert. Substitutions requested within 30 days of departure may not be possible.

No refund or credit should be expected for:

A guest’s voluntary cancellation
Late arrival or failure to arrive
Inadequate documentation, insurance, clothing or equipment
A medical condition arising or changing after booking
A guest’s inability to participate in a particular excursion
Weather-related itinerary changes
The omission, substitution or reordering of an activity for operational or safety reasons
Early departure or unused services
Refusal of participation resulting from conduct or failure to follow safety instructions
Unavailability of Cady Coleman or Josh Simpson. In the event that the hosts cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances all efforts will be made to replace with hosts of similar background.

Weather & Itinerary Flexibility

Antarctica does not operate according to a fixed timetable.

Flights to Antarctica, the South Pole and the Blue Rivers depend on weather, runway conditions, aircraft availability and the judgment of the expedition team. The published itinerary represents the intended experience, not a guaranteed day-by-day schedule.

White Desert may change the sequence, timing, location or content of activities to protect guest safety and maximize the likelihood of reaching the expedition’s principal objectives. No particular flight, excursion or natural phenomenon can be guaranteed.

Guests should book flexible air arrangements and avoid important commitments immediately following the anticipated return to Cape Town.

Documentation & Assumption of Risk

Each guest will be required to:

Sign the applicable booking terms and expedition waiver
Complete the required medical forms
Provide evidence of adequate insurance
Carry a valid passport and any required South African visa
Follow White Desert’s clothing and equipment requirements
Comply with the instructions of expedition leaders, pilots, guides and medical personnel

Travel in Antarctica involves inherent risks, remoteness, uncertainty and limited access to medical facilities.
